Success Stories

I will never forget the day I attended the widows feeding programme organized by Melisa Organization. I was sick, weak, and my clothes were torn. I had no idea that showing up that day would change my life completely. The team from Melisa saw my condition and didn’t just give me food — they saw I needed help and acted immediately. They took me to Tom Mboya Level 3 Hospital, where I was diagnosed with pneumonia. Thanks to their kindness, I was treated and started to feel better. But Melisa Organization didn’t stop there. They wanted to know more about me, where I lived, and how they could continue to help. When they visited my home, they were shocked. I was living in a two-roomed house that was falling apart. Water was coming up through the floor, and the roof leaked every time it rained. I had been living like that for years, with no hope that anything would change.Melisa Organization provided essential home repairs, ensuring I had safe and confortable place to live. Today, I am healthier, stronger, and living in a safe and decent home. Melisa Organization gave me more than help — they gave me back my dignity. I will always be grateful.

I will always say that Melisa Organization saved my life. When I was in Standard 6, I was living in a very painful situation. My step-father was abusive, and my home was not a safe place. I was just a child, scared and unsure of what my future would look like. That’s when Melisa Organization came into my life. They stepped in and rescued me from the abuse. But they didn’t just remove me from that harmful environment — they walked the whole journey with me. They made sure I completed my primary education and continued to support me through secondary school. At every step, they believed in me, even when I found it hard to believe in myself. With their continued support, I recently completed my training in Early Childhood Education. This is more than just a certificate to me — it’s a new beginning, a future full of purpose, and a chance to give back by working with children. Melisa Organization became the family I never had. They gave me hope, safety, and a reason to dream again. am proud of how far I’ve come, and it’s all because someone chose to care.

I lived through years of domestic violence. The pain — physical, emotional, and mental — became part of my everyday life. I kept hoping things would change, but they only got worse. One day, during yet another violent episode, my husband broke my arm. That was the moment my life changed — because Melisa Organization stepped in.They found me at my lowest — bruised, broken, and scared. They rushed me to get the medical attention I urgently needed. My arm was so badly injured it had to be fixed with metal plates. But what they healed most wasn’t just my body — it was my spirit. After my recovery, I opened up to the Melisa team and shared a dream I had buried long ago: I wanted to finish high school. They didn’t laugh or doubt me. They encouraged me and helped me enroll as an adult learner. I studied hard and sat for my KCSE exams in 2022 — and I passed with a C+. Today, I am pursuing a course in nursing — something I once thought was completely out of reach. I now live a life filled with hope, purpose, and dignity.Melisa Organization did more than rescue me — they believed in me when I had stopped believing in myself. They gave me a second chance at life.

A few years ago, I was just another street boy — hungry, tired, and without a place to call home. Between 2014 and 2016, I started attending the feeding programmes organized by Melisa Organization. At the time, it was simply a way to survive. But I had no idea those meals would be the doorway to a completely new life. The team at Melisa noticed me and took a silent interest in my story. They later told me they made a quiet follow-up, trying to understand why I kept coming back. That’s when they discovered I was homeless, living on the streets with no one to care for me. Instead of turning away, they stepped in. Melisa Organization found a guardian who agreed to take me in. For safety reasons, I won’t mention names — but I will say this: from that point forward, my life started to change. Melisa didn’t just give me a home — they gave me care, support, and a chance to dream. Now, I’m in Form 3 and preparing to sit for my KCSE next year. I've been working hard and consistently bringing home grades of at least a B plain each school year. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m even more excited about where I’m going. Melisa Organization saw more than a street boy — they saw a future in me. And now, I believe in that future too.
